It has never been easier to sell photographic prints, posters and antique photos online. However, it is essential you choose the best options for shipping photographs. Do not settle for cheap and flimsy; it is terrible to receive a package you have been waiting for, only to discover it was crushed in transit.

Whenever possible, ship your photographs flat. This prevents curling at the edges and helps preserve the photograph. However, choosing just any flat mailer is a bad idea for photos. It is too easy for most standard thickness flat mailers and bubble mailers to get crushed. When choosing a photo mailer, look for products labeled "photo mailer" or "rigid mailer." These are even available in sizes of up to 22-by-27 inches.

For photographs too large for photo mailers, shipping tubes are a great option. Shipping tubes come in a variety of colors, sizes and shapes. For photos, it is best to choose a tube with a wider usable diameter. This allows you to ship the photo without rolling it too tightly. Photo tubes come in standard and heavy duty thicknesses. There are also square photo tubes, which are useful when you are shipping many photos you need to stack after packing.

With some foresight, it is easy to ship photographs all over the world. Using flat mailers when possible and larger photo tubes when it is not preserves photos through shipping. Rigid mailers and heavy-duty mailing tubes are slightly more expensive than the cheaper versions, but result in fewer lost or destroyed photos.
